Customer's question-Resthyro for cat hyperthyroidism

We received a question about our Resthyro for cat hyperthyroidism and we would like to share this with you for your information.
"Hi, I just wanted to know if the Resthyro will make the T4 values go down to the normal range (I will see the results on the blood test)? Will it decrease the effects of Hyperthyroidism on the heart, blood pressure, breathing? Or is it more of just a calming effect?"
Resthyro is formulated to balance thyroid hyperactivity and relieve related symptoms.
Rapid heart rates are common with hyperthyroidism, and heart murmurs and high blood pressure can also occur.

However, many of the signs of hyperthyroidism can also be found in other diseases such as diabetes, kidney failure, heart disease, or liver disease and other laboratory tests such as a CBS, urinalysis and serum chemistry may be done to determine if these diseases are present. Resthyro will be helpful if the high T4 level is caused by hyperthyroidism. An animal with concurrent kidney, heart, or other debilitating disease may have hyperthyroidism but a normal or only slightly elevated T4.

If the only disease the pet has is hyperthyroidism and not on concurrent diseases as mentioned above then the Resthyro should lower the T4 level. In order to determine the T4 level a blood test would need to be done. If the Resthyro works for this pet by reducing the T4 level then the other symptoms such as heart rate and blood pressure should dissipate.

"Just a note to say that the Canine Plantaeris has worked amazingly well. We own an elderly (13yr old) dachshund which has many health issues due to old age, one of which has been persistent diarrhea and IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) since April 2007. Nothing-no amount of antibiotics or diarrhea medicines from our local vet has helped. I am so grateful to have come across your product through my internet searches. At last we have had normal formed bowel movements for the past 10-14 days. And you are correct in saying that the Plantaeris actually tastes good. Our pet actually likes taking it. My supply is sufficient for now but if our luck continues with this product we will be reordering soon. Thanks Again for helping out with a problems that I was sure was hopeless." B. Oleary-PA

Customer's question -Pituitary Cushions

We had a customer that had a dog with "Pituitary Cushions" disease and she was wondering which product could be helpful for her dog. Cushions disease and Cushings disease are basically the same thing. If you do on-line research with the key word " Dog Cushions disease", you will notice that the result will show up as Cushings disease.

To help you understand what cushing is, I will quote the information that I found on line which is very straight forward.
"Dogs with cushing disease have an over production of the adrenal hormone. A dog can develop it two way. 1 it can be cause by a tumor on the adrenal gland or 2, a pituitary gland tumor which causes the adrenal gland to produce too much corticosteroids/adrenal hormone. Technially, there is a 3rd way which is basically "induced" or man made by a dog being given high doses of prednizone/corticosteroid for a prolonged period of time.

The way to correct that is to slowly wean a dog off the prednizone until things are back to functioning normal. If a dog has a tumor on it's adrenal gland, surgery can be done to remove it and the surgery which is very risky is done by a specialist. If the tumor is not caucerous, there is a possibilty of a dog regaining it health. If it's being caused by a pituitary tumor (which is located at the base of the brain) they do not remove them. How they treat them is with medication that kills off the abnormal gland just enough to control the amount of corticosteroids being produced and keep the levels at a normal range..

Blood testing is done on a regular basis to measure the levels of corticosteroids being produced.. There is no cure for cushing disease, it's a terminal disease, and treatment is basically done to providing a better quality of life, not to extent it. If the tumor is small, with proper management dogs can live years with the disease. "

We would strongly recommend Supraglan for dog cushings disease to this customer. This is all natural herbal formula with normalizing action, irrespective of the direction of the pathologic state. It works to normalize the production of adrenal gland hormones. We receive numerous positive results every week and we strongly recomend our product if your dog is suffering from Cushings disease and unable to tolerate the treatment due to age or stress.

Royal Coat EFA Express

Our Royal Coat EFA Express is an excellent solution for excessive shedding, dermatitis, eczema, hair loss, low wound healing, skin and coat inflammation. This product can be used on both dogs and cats. EFA stands for "Essential Fatty Acid" which is required to sustain the life of humans or other animals, and cannot be manufactured by their bodies.

Commercially prepared pet foods do not contain enough EFA because EFA gets detroyed by heating, processing, and moderate to high temperature cooking. Because of the heat used in the processing of the most pet foods, EFAs turn rancid relatively rapidly and cannot be used in satisfactory amounts in pet and human foods that are designed to sit unregfrigerated on the grocery or cabinet shelf for months.

Royal Coat EFA Express can be also used for sores in ears, greasy and dull coats, dandruff, excessive paw licking and hot spots.
This product contains:

Borage oil (Omega-6), Fish Oil (Omega-3), Vitamin A, Vitamin D adn Vitamin E.

The recommended dosage for your pet is:
  • To 12 lbs-1/8 tsp per day
  • To 25 lbs-1/4 tsp
  • To 75 lbs- 1 tsp

General comments

"All I can say about the cancer product that I ordered is that it has appeared to put the tumor in remission. The tumor is still there but has stopped growing. I took my pet(Dog) to one of the best Vetinarians in the country.(Okla.St.Univ.) and they did confirm what my local vet told me.He was diagnosed with melonoma cancer in the roof of his mouth.

Also, He had gotten to the point that he would not eat very much. He is now eating almost normal again even though the tumor still exists. He dose not appear to be in any pain now like he appeared to be at first. He even plays around some now quite often. He barks again which he didn't when he was first diagnosed.

I really and truly believe that the medication I recieved from you played a decisive roll in his progress. This was the only medication I have used. I was desperate in trying to find something out there at the time because he was given just a very short time to live. As a matter of fact, my local vet gave him only about 1 month before he would have to be put down. I couldn't deal with that.

I just knew I had to try to find another answer. It has been about 2 months now since I started him on the medication and like I said "the tumor still exists but it has stopped growing. I hope that eventually it will begin to deminish in size because he dose have a little difficulty breathing sometimes especially if he gets too hot.

He has been living indoors since he was diagnosed becaused I wanted to try to keep his stress level down as much as possible from the heat outdoors. Anyone who owns a Rottwieler knows that they are not very toleranent to the heat. He is very well mannered and too my surprise was no problem at all to house-break him. I couldn't ask for a better companion that what he has been over the past 11 years. He is a big dog and sometimes we have to step over him but we don't mind that anymore.

We realize that we only have our loving pets for a short time anyway so a little inconveniance now and then dosen't matter now. He is as good as any dog could be in every way. He has never been aggressive to anyone his whole life. He is friendlier to other people than most people are to one another.I know I will have to let him go someday but I just didn't want to lose him the way he was going.

I had looked frantically for a solution and I found "Petwellbeing" and gave it a try. So, in just these few words I have given you I hope you understand how grateful I am for this product. I believe it has been a life saver for Buster. I know that if he could speak for himself he'd tell you how greatful he is also. We thank you emenssely for your help Howard Engel. p.s. You have my permission to use this in your ad campaingn if you wish.
Thank you. "

customer's question-deworming dogs-Inulin PK

We receive questions about our Inulin PK for dog worms on daily basis and it is very important to to prevent your dog from having those nasty worms.

Early worm detection is important because each type of dog worm requires a different type of treatment. You should also be aware of the fact that roundworm and hookworm are zoonotic, which means that these worms can be transmitted to humans. Some worm infestations may show little to no symptoms, whereas others can demonstrate severe symptoms, such as vomiting, diarrhea and weight loss.

Canine Inulin PK fights internal parasites – including roundworm – and helps repair the damage they have caused. Deworming your pet is one of the most important care to give to your dog especiallly, if you have puppies. Our product is 100% natural herbal extract and it is safe to use on puppies. This product is recommended to use the full dosage for 2 weeks, off the product for a week and go back for another 2 weeks of full dosage and off the product for another week again. Repeat this cycle until the bottle runs out. The dog will be boosted for 3 months without any deworming product.

The ingredients of Inulin PK are:

Elecampane: Antihelmintic activity due to helenin, which has paralyzing effect on the dog worms’ central nervous systems. Recommended as the safest for puppies and kittens.

Wormwood: Antihelmintic, safe for puppies and kittens; also has tonic effect on the gastrointestinal tract.

Jamaica Quassia: Antihelmintic, safe for puppies and kittens; enhances the action of the formula.

Papaya: Enzyme-rich (papain), useful in dissolving canine worms’ outer layers, which shields them from proteases.

Oregon Grape: Contains alkaloids (berberine, berbamine, hydrastyne), resins and tannins; has demonstrated antibiotic, immunostimulatory and carminative activities.

Fennel: Has anti-inflammatory activity, relieves digestive problems, and relaxes spasms.

Gotu Kola: Clears toxins, reduces inflammation, and improves healing and immunity.

Milk Thistle: Contains sylinarin, which accelerates the protein synthesis rate and stimulates new liver cells production; protects and strengthens the liver.

Celandine: Protects the liver, improves bile flow and helps to emulsify the gallbladder content.

Here are also guideline for dog worm prevention:

  • When walking your dog in a park, picking up his feces to prevents the spread of many other dog diseases.

  • Regular visit to the vet for the stool testing is a great way to prevent dog worms, as well as other illnesses. Twice-yearly worm testing is recommended. Make sure your dog is tested for worms before starting a heartworm preventative.

  • Flea control is important because fleas are responsible for the spread of tapeworms.

  • Keep your puppies away from feces: his own as well as others. This is the most common form of worm infestation.

  • Avoid exposing your dog to stray animals, birds and dead rodents, which often harbor immature tapeworms that can mature inside your dog.

Home cooked diet for dog with liver failure

We had an inquiry about home cooked meal for dog with liver failure and we did some light research on this. To tell you the main point, Milk Thistle is highly recommended in the diet for liver failure and our Milk Thistle for liver failure has been an excellent product for dogs and cats that are suffering from liver failure.
Here is the information that we found about home cooked diet, written by Dr. W. Jean Dodds.

"Recipe: 2 cups of pollack, cod or any other low fat white fish fillet to 6 cups of veggies and potatoes, or 25% pollack, cod or any other low fat white fish fillet to 75% veggies and potatoes. This diet has proved extremely successful in reversing liver damage along with reducing Phenobarbital.

1 and 1/2 cups moist white cooking potatoes1 and 1/2 cups sweet potatoes1 and 1/2 cups of zucchini1 and 1/2 cup string beans, celery or summer squash2 cups pollack, cod or any other low fat white fish fillet

Wash the potatoes well and cut them up crosswise into 2" pieces so the skin circles the potatoes. Simmer for 45 minutes to 1 hour and remove the skins.
Wash the zucchini and cut up with string beans, celery or squash and steam or cook until very tender.

2 cups pollack, cod or any other low fat white fish fillet poached in a frying pan with water until fish is white and flaky.
Mix all ingredients together until it is well blended. This will give you approximately 8 cups of food. Depending on the size of your dog, you can double or triple the recipe. For flavor you can add a pinch of garlic powder and a little Italian Seasoning to each meal.

Tip: If you have been feeding kibble please remember that kibble has many more calories than the liver cleansing diet. You will need to feed at least 25% to 50% more home cooking than kibble until you are sure your dogs weight is holding where you want it. Dogs can loose weight very quickly on the liver cleansing diet so you need to monitor their weight carefully.

With liver disease try to feed in 3 or 4 small meals, the last one being at bedtime. This puts less stress on the liver. Put 3 days of meals in baggies and freeze what you won't use in 3 days. You should be able to cook once a week and freeze what you don't use. This recipe will stay fresh for 3 days in the fridge.

White low-fat fish has a specific amino acid that actually helps heal the liver. Soy and fat-free cottage cheese also have this specific amino acid, but should not be used in a diet until the liver enzymes test comes back in a normal range.

NOTE:Home cooking is very rich. If you have been feeding commercial dog food you will need to switch very slowly to the liver cleansing diet to avoid diarrhea. Start with 3/4 of your commercial dog food and 1/4 liver cleansing diet for a few days. Then 50% commercial food and 50% liver cleansing for a few days. Then 1/4 old food and 3/4 liver cleansing for a few days and then switch over completely to the liver cleansing diet. Make sure the stools are somewhat firm before you move to the next level.

IMPORTANT:If you are switching from kibble, and/or canned dog food, to home cooking and your dog is on potassium or sodium bromide, please be aware that there is considerably less sodium (salt) in home cooking than kibble or canned (which can have large amounts of sodium). Sodium, or salt, in the diet "uses up" the bromide and less salt in the diet could raise bromide levels substantially which would cause bromism. After switching over to home cooking, if your dog has weakness in its legs, trouble climbing stairs, gets "wobbly" or loses it's balance, your vet can reduce the bromide dose slowly and in small amounts. W. Jean Dodds, DVM, recommends reducing the dose of bromide slightly or by 1/3 at the most to see if the signs of bromism go away or are lessened. In a month, have the bromide levels checked to make sure they are in the therapeutic range. Don't worry about lowering the bromide as long as it stays in therapeutic range. Less bromide and home cooking will be healthier for your dog in the long range. "

If you would like to know more about home cooked diet for your pet, you could go to the local book store and search for the recipe books. They are easy to find and very handy to have.
