You are right to be wary about products with grapes as they are toxic to dogs. Oregon Grape is safe for pet consumption though, as it is not related to grapes, but only gets its name from the purple berries it produces. In herbal remedies it is also the root that is commonly used. The only pet warnings for Oregon Grape is that it is not recommended for use in diabetic animals.

Ideally Mellit can be used as a stand alone product. We do have customers with sever cases of diabetes that do occasionally top up their pet with insulin, but most people's pets are properly regulated with just the Mellit.

It is recommended that after being on the product for 2 to 3 weeks to get their blood sugar tested to ensure that it is working well with their bodies. It is peace of mind for both you and your pet.

I often receive questions from customers that want to know how log they need to keep their dog on Tripsy.

Whether your dog needs to keep on taking Tripsy or not is dependant on why she is taking it in the first place. Kidney stones and infections both pass and at that time you could stop the treatment.

Kidney disease or failure is terminal and your pet should stay on Tripsy for the duration of her life. Unfortunately the kidneys can not regenerate like a lot of other organs, and once damage is done it is forever. In cases of kidney disease or failure Tripsy helps the kidneys do the job that they are now laboring to do so is helpful long term.

Resthyro is a fairly new product for us. The manufacture has been selling the product to vets for quite some time so we were able to get some references from them before deciding to carry the product. We did not post them on our website though because they were not from our customers. I've been asked a couple of times about the quality and freshness of many of the products that we carry. Most of the time they are questions about the NHV herbal tinctures, ES Clear in particular.

Because we distribute a lot of ES Clear they make new batches every couple of months. The product can be stored for up to two years unopened. This is the time limit that they have tested the herb's storage potency. It could probably go longer, but it has only been tested to 2 years.

We have had a lot of success with Plantaeris. You should see results within the first week. Form there it will gradually increase in effect until the end of the third week, were it will be at its full effect.

If you have not see a mild change within the first week and a half you will need to try again to get to the cause of the diarrhea. Plantaeris will only help with the symptoms of the diarrhea. If you are having a very bad case it could be a more serious problem like licking anti-freeze or a dietary allergy.

I read a disturbing article in a BC, Canadian news paper today. It was about the death of a BC boy by the attack of household dogs. This happened in December of 2004, but is now finishing the trial proceedings.

I had a mixture of feelings while reading the article. First I have to admit that I was sad that there is another black mark on Rottweilers. I have issues with pointing fingers at specific breeds. There are many aggressive dogs, in many breed categories, but Rottweilers seem to get the spot light when ever there is an incident. The conspiracy theorist in me thinks it is media fear mongering, even though there are many statistics on their side, but I do believe that the statistics are relative though. My Grandparents had a Pomeranian that was a canine piranha. My grandma's arms were always bloody from bites. The little dog partook in the flesh of many people, but because of his size not one incidence was reported. It is just too easy to say one particular breed is aggressive.

By focusing on the breed of dog I think they are loosing the key lesson that needs to be learned. Dogs are dogs; there are a variety of them all with different dispositions. They also interact with each person differently. Children should be taught respect for all dogs, they are living beings. It doesn't matter if you have the friendliest dog in the world. You need to be aware of their interaction with children. My Rottweiler/German Sheppard cross is a big kid magnet. He looks like Scooby Doo and loves to kiss kids, but I always watch him. Not because I think he will do anything, it is just because it is the responsible thing to do.

Plantaris is for the treatment of diarrhea. It does not cure the cause of the diarrhea, it only treats the symptoms. Lower intestinal problems can be cause by many different things, and you and your vet will have to look into treating the cause.

Treatment will last for as long as the diarrhea occurs. As I stated above the duration of the diarrhea is dependant on what is causing it.

The type of diet you chose will also be determined by the cause of the diarrhea. For example, if it is due to a wheat allergy, you will want to adjust your cats diet accordingly. You will want to talk to your vet about diet choices or making a home made diet.

"Dosage
To be given to pet twice daily. One drop for every 2 lb (1 kg) of body weight up to 50 lb (25 kg). Thereafter add one drop per additional 4 lb (2 kg). Please note that the product comes with an eye dropper to count out the drops. This dropper is marked at 0.5ML and 1ML. The 0.5ML line is equal to 10 drops. Product can be given with food or directly in the mouth with eye dropper."

I recently purchased tripsy for my 15 yr old cat. He was diagnosed with renal heart failure and had kidney stones over a year ago and was given 3 months to live. Thank god over a year later he's still with me. I recently took him to the vet and he told me he was concerned about kidney failure because of his past and that I was just buying time. My cat shows no signs, he eats well and is not lethargic but his breath is really bad. My question is, is tripsy ok to use for preventive purposes? Could this help to slow kidney failure?

Tripsy can be used preventatively. It is recommended that if you do not have kidney disease, to use the product for three weeks and then to stop for the fourth week. Keep going in this cycle. This is to make sure your cat's kidneys do not become dependant on the product.

Using it preventatively will help the health of the kidneys.
