Dying your pet for Halloween

Countown to Halloween…one more day to go. I was originally going to do a post about top 10 Halloween costumes, however, upon my image search found various pet dye jobs from past Halloweens. Since these were obtained on-line through general image searching, I was unable to locate the author, therefore, don't have any specific information on how they dyed their dog/cat.

Most dog salons have specialty dyes formulated for dying your pet hair. I recommend going to a professional or at least they can lead you in the right direction. Although there are a lot of pet safe brands, the mess is not worth saving a few dollars as dogs can shake dye (which is a pain to get off the walls, take it from someone who has green/yellow hair as we speak) all over the place and or get dye while still damp all over furniture.

Unlike human hair, dogs and cats skin pores, breed depending, maybe too large to absorb certain chemicals. You want to make sure that the dye doesn't seep into the pores causing harm.

Costumes can be a fuss for pets, therefore, a good celebratory alternative is dying your pet.

This photo was e-mailed to me. Someone dyed their cat hair pink and put him/her in a Hello Kitty shirt.

For some reason, this picture makes me crave cotton candy.

This image was originally found on flicker. It supposed to be the Olympic rings, however, it looks like fruit loops stuck to the dog's fur or gummy candies.

Pride is for everyone...dogs to.
