Treating a dog for shock
We went from last weeks entries of checking the dog's reflexes, Assessing an injured dog to todays topic, collapsing and shock.
The brief definition of shock is when the body circulation fails. Breathing and pulse are rapid, pale gums and cold to touch.
First thing is to make sure that the airway is clear for breathing.
Unless the shock is caused by heatstroke, you can start treating shock by loosely wrapping the body in a blanket to keep it warm.
