human foods treated with discipline

We all like to treat our cats/dogs from time to time off our plates, however, there needs to be discipline implemented otherwise both dogs/cats will develop bad habits and their attitude toward entitlement can be rude and frustrating.

I sneak Freedom treats every Wednesday from my plate, however, rather than feeding him off my fork, I place the food directly in his regular eating dish so that he understands that anything not in his bowl, he has no entitlement to.

Fostering good habits and training is especially important when guests come over for a dinner party or any other social gathering. There's nothing more rude than a cat who has jumped on aunt May's lap in front of company for scraps. Although most enjoy pets, this behavior may not be welcomed in social settings and poorly reflects on the owner.

On the same note, rewarding pets for a good behavior is important. Rewarding them with pet only treats rather than human treats not only provides them with their own special designated culinary reward but also practices discipline and distinction between people and dog treats.
