Dangers of Dog Coats
As the weather starts to turn, it is a good idea to think about the health of your pet's coats. Make sure that your pets are getting proper nutrients and look into a supplement if you are finding his fur to be problematic.
With the waning of the shedding season, it is now the time that your pet starts to build up his winter insulation.
Although very cute, you may want to forgo doggy coats at this time. If you constantly coat your dog to go outside your dog's fur will not prepare correctly for the winter months. They need to feel the weather transition in order to slow their hair loss. If you do decide on a dog coat, you will need to be responsible and always make sure your dog is prepared for the weather conditions.
On our long rainy walks I am always tempted to put a rain slicker on my Sheppard. But even in the rain he still runs around like a puppy. It also wouldn't be the same if he didn't give a big shake when we got in the elevator.
