Dog oral hygiene-Customer's question

" I have a 7 months old puppy with exceptionally bad breath!! We brought him home when he was only 4 months old and his bad breath doesn't seem to disappear although I have been brushing his teeth everyday. He is super adorable, but his bad breath is absolute problem. Is there anything I can do to get rid of his terrible breath??" Mark P-New Jersey

If you are suffering because your dog has bad breath, the most likely cause is a dental problem. If you don’t get help for your dog at this stage and you continue to neglect its mouth, it will reach the advanced periodontal disease stage. Advanced periodontal disease is very painful for your pet and its teeth become loose and ultimately fall out. If they do not fall out on their own, they may need to be removed in order to prevent further damage. Your dog's breath will also be quite offensive at this point. I would recommend you to take him to the vet if it doesn't get better.

To prevent your dog having a bad breath: you can encourage your dog to chew. Rawhide chews, dog biscuits, (safe) bones, and chew toys can all be great for encouraging chewing. However, it is not recommended for dog with weight gain issue because it could be a bit fattening. Chew toys can be helpful , too and it will keep them busy. It is very important to choose chews that are large due to possible swallow-up. It also require very little chewing which will not help much.

We also have a mouth drop for dog bad breath. This product will protect your dogs from having an disturbing bad breath by fighting against bacterial infection and gingivitis. It is also highly recommended to have your dog teeth cleaned regularly by the vet. Prevention is the strongest and smartest!!
