Diet for Chronic Kidney Failure in Dogs

"My 14 1/2 year old cockapoo has been diagnosed with chronic kidney failure (failing at 75% now). She is on Purina nf. Will any of your products help at this point? Are there recipes that I can prepare to help??"

Hello,
As long as your pet is not in pain or is suffering, I feel there is always hope. Kidney disease is a very hard problem to bounce back from but you can work with it to keep a quality of life.

Our product Tripsy is highly recommended. We receive lots of positive feed back from it and I hear many great stories over the phone from owners that are using it.

I do know that with kidney problems it is recommended to decrease the amount of protein and phosphorus in the food. Usually alternate sources of protein, like hard boiled eggs, are used instead of the usual beef or chicken. I do not have any information on Purina nf for you, but check the ingredients and if you still have questions click on the "Contact Us" link at the bottom of www.purina.com.

I have also added a link to another vet site that deals with your question as well.
