Hyperthyroid Treatment for Pets
I just wanted to let you know that PetWellbeing will be carrying a hyperthyroid supplement in December.
We have received many requests from customers that are searching for a natural product to help their pets. This condition should not be confused with hypothyroid problems as they are treated quite differently.
Most cats with hyperthyroidism are older pets (10 years of age and older).
The most common clinical signs include hyperactivity, weight loss, increased appetite, vomiting, or diarrhea. Diagnosis is made by finding elevated thyroid hormone levels on a blood profile. Other common geriatric diseases whose clinical signs mimic hyperthyroidism, such as kidney disease and diabetes, should be screened for as well.

My 10-yr-old cat was losing a lot of weight so I took him to the vet, who felt a lump next to his thyroid & gave me methimazole. We started on 1 pill a day for a week, then increased it to 2. About 3-4 days after increasing it to 2, he's started to itch all over. It's driving him crazy. Literally up the wall. I thought it would be better today than yesterday (the first day of itching -- and I stopped the methimazole that day after seeing how horribly he was suffering) but it's not. The vet (who hasn't seen him) thinks it's fleas, but if he had that many fleas, my other cat would have them too, and she doesn't, and I would have picked some up in my hair, seen them on the bed, etc. His fur is too thick to search for fleas. Is there something I can give him pronto to stop the itching till all the methimazole is out of his system?
